Sussex 24
By nickhills On Tuesday, May 26th, 2009Sussex 24 is an activity weekend that will give ALL Explorers the chance to try just about anything they want whilst having fun and socializing at the same time!

West Sussex Explorers have “arranged” the entire Broadstone Warren site and all of it’s activities for 24 hours on the 12th/13th of September 2009.
This event is simply not to be missed!!! Along with ALL the activities we have also arranged for a Big Top arena to be available so that we can have a party on the Saturday eve! Which we hope we include a live band or 2!.

County Cub Camp 2009
By nickhills On Saturday, May 23rd, 2009May 15th-17th saw the South of England Showground in Ardingly play host to the spectical of CampALot, the 2009 West Sussex County Cub Camp.
East Grinstead was well represented with the District Attending with nearly 100 cubs and Leaders. A large number of East Grinstead Members form Scouts, Explorers, Network and Section Leaders also pitched in to help with the behind the scenes running.

Bear Grylls – The New Chief Scout
By nickhills On Saturday, May 23rd, 2009Bear is a man who has always loved adventure. After breaking his back in three places in a parachuting accident, he fought his way to recovery, and two years later entered the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest, at the age of only 23.
He has since led ground-breaking expeditions across the world, and now at the age of 34 has become the 11th and youngest person to be appointed as Chief Scout.

Local Scouts Presented Awards
By nickhills On Tuesday, January 27th, 2009On Sunday 25th January over 40 awards were presented to young members of East Grinstead, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders. The awards recognise the experiences and developments young people have made during their time in the Scout Movement. Particularly notable was the presentation of the Queen’s Scout Award which is the highest award a young person can achieve and demonstrates a strong dedication and commitment to scouting and the wider community.
