Luckily, not many of Griffyns Explorers suffer with heights, as demonstated by thier ability to build freestanding crate towers. They also seem to have come up with an interesting way to get back down!
Fancy Go Karting, Kyaking, Climbing, Camping, Sailing, GeoCaching, Caving, Paracending, or a whole host of other exciting activity’s? If your aged 14-18 then you should join explorers.

West Sussex Explorers have “arranged” the entire Broadstone Warren site and all of it’s activities for 24 hours on the 12th/13th of September 2009.
This event is simply not to be missed!!! Along with ALL the activities we have also arranged for a Big Top arena to be available so that we can have a party on the Saturday eve! Which we hope we include a live band or 2!.
May 15th-17th saw the South of England Showground in Ardingly play host to the spectical of CampALot, the 2009 West Sussex County Cub Camp.
East Grinstead was well represented with the District Attending with nearly 100 cubs and Leaders. A large number of East Grinstead Members form Scouts, Explorers, Network and Section Leaders also pitched in to help with the behind the scenes running.
Bear is a man who has always loved adventure. After breaking his back in three places in a parachuting accident, he fought his way to recovery, and two years later entered the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest, at the age of only 23.
He has since led ground-breaking expeditions across the world, and now at the age of 34 has become the 11th and youngest person to be appointed as Chief Scout.
It has been a busy few weeks in scouting, and I have not had a chance to update the site with things as often as I would have liked, so here are some quick bits:

On Sunday 25th January over 40 awards were presented to young members of East Grinstead, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders. The awards recognise the experiences and developments young people have made during their time in the Scout Movement. Particularly notable was the presentation of the Queen’s Scout Award which is the highest award a young person can achieve and demonstrates a strong dedication and commitment to scouting and the wider community.
Have a look at this video to get an idea of just some of the things young people in our district have been up to over the last 12 months.
Our District
East Grinstead is located in West Sussex on the borders of Kent, Surrey and East Sussex. Scouting has been strong in the area since 1908 and in 2008 there were some 686 Scouters in the district including 564 youths.
We have been scouting in the area for 100 years - come and see what we do. If you are not already involved with scouting, come and join us
There are eight separate groups in the East Grinstead area. Locations of each and details of where and when they meet are set out on the group pages.
